Sein AUFTRAG war, nach MEDIALER AKTENLAGE einen Film über die GESCHICHTE der Band DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN zu machen. Logisch, dass dabei nicht ALTE GEFÜHLE SEKUNDÄRVERWERTET, geschweige denn KAUSALKETTEN einer Erfolgsgeschichte ERZÄHLT werden sollten. Hier sollte es EIGENTLICH darum gehen, A) unter welchen BEDINGUNGEN sich eine Erzählung KONSTRUIERT, die als Geschichte EMPFUNDEN WIRD und B) als historischer MATERIALIST die SCHALTER im historischen KONTINUUM aufzuspüren. Tatsächlich traten interessante PARADOXIEN an die OBERFLÄCHE. Zu nennen wäre zum Beispiel der DOUBLE-BIND, in den die Goldenen Zitronen ihr PUBLIKUM rocken. Kurz vor dem Ende stellt er fest, wie viel GEWALT dazu nötig ist, Geschichte anzuschreiben, mit teilnehmender Beobachtung KOMMT MAN DA NÄMLICH NICHT SEHR WEIT (das griechische "authentés" bezeichnete in ältester Bedeutung den VERWANDTEN- oder Selbstmörder und erst später den Herrscher und Urheber, der mit seinem Siegel die Echtheit eines DOKUMENTS bezeugte). Und NACH dem Ende hat er immer noch keine Antwort auf die Frage geliefert, ob es der Sache der RADIKALEN LINKEN nicht doch dienlicher gewesen wäre, wenn sie sich mit Karlheinz Stockhausen statt mit Ton Steine Scherben verbündet hätte.

His TASK was to make a film about the HISTORY of the band DIE GOLDENEN ZITRONEN, based on the MEDIA RECORDS. It stands to reason that this should not involve the SECONDARY EXPLOITATION of OLD FEELINGS, let alone the NARRATION of the CAUSAL CHAINS behind a success story. This was ACTUALLY meant to be about A) the CONDITIONS under which a narrative is CONSTRUCTED that is PERCEIVED as history, and B) as a historical MATERIALIST, identifying the TURNING POINTS in the historical CONTINUUM. In fact, some interesting PARADOXES came to the SURFACE. One example worth mentioning is the DOUBLE-BIND into which the Golden Lemons draw their AUDIENCE. Shortly before the end, he realises just how much VIOLENCE is required to make history; with PARTICIPANT OBSERVATION, ONE DOESN’T GET VERY FAR (the Greek ‘authentés’, in its earliest meaning, referred to a kinsman or a suicide, and only later to the ruler and author who, with his seal, attested to the authenticity of a document). And AFTER the end, he still hasn’t provided an answer to the question of whether it might not have served the cause of the RADICAL LEFT better had they allied themselves with Karlheinz Stockhausen rather than with Ton Steine Scherben.
